Degree recognition · Service

Your qualification, recognised in Germany.

Recognition opens the direct route to the Chancenkarte, earns points on the points route and is required for many jobs. We work out which route applies to you, prepare the application with you and stay with you until the authority decides.

Who it's for

For anyone who needs a qualification recognised.

This is for you if

  • You hold a university degree or a vocational qualification from outside Germany.
  • Your degree check showed it is only partly comparable, or not listed as recognised.
  • You plan to apply for the Chancenkarte, a Blue Card or a skilled worker visa, and recognition makes your case stronger.
  • You want to work in a regulated profession such as nursing, medicine or teaching.

This is not for you if

  • Your qualification is already fully recognised in Germany.
  • You are planning the whole move to Germany. Recognition is already included in our Chancenkarte packages Visa & Recognition and All-Inclusive.
  • You need a lawyer for a refused application or an appeal.
Is this for you?

Check your degree in a few minutes.

Tell us whether it is a university degree or a vocational qualification. For a university degree, we check whether Germany already recognises it and show you whether recognition makes sense for you.

How it works

What happens, and when.

The authority sets the pace for the decision. Everything before that, we keep moving.

  1. Week 1

    We work out your route

Not every qualification needs the same kind of recognition. In a kick-off video call, your case manager looks at your qualification, your profession and your plans in Germany. For most university degrees in professions that are not regulated, the right document is a Statement of Comparability from the ZAB. Vocational qualifications and regulated professions such as nursing, medicine or teaching need recognition from the body responsible for that profession.

    What you get

    • A clear answer on your route: ZAB statement or professional recognition
    • The authority responsible for your case
    • An honest first view of your chances
  2. Weeks 1 to 4

We get your documents in order

Most delays come from paperwork: a missing transcript, an uncertified copy, a translation that doesn't meet the authority's rules. You get a checklist made for your qualification and your country. We coordinate certified copies and translations through our partners, and we read every document before anything is filed.

    What you get

    • A document checklist for your qualification and your country
    • Certified copies and translations, coordinated through our partners
    • Every document checked before it is filed
  3. Submission

We prepare the application, you submit it

We fill in the application with you and check it line by line, attachments included. You submit it in your own name, so the application and the decision stay yours. We tell you exactly what goes where and what the authority will charge, before you pay anything.

    What you get

    • The application, prepared with you and checked before it goes in
    • Clear instructions for submitting in your own name
    • The expected fees, before you pay anything
  4. Until the decision

We stay with you until the authority decides

Authorities often come back with a question or ask for one more document. When that happens, your case manager helps you respond quickly and correctly. When the decision arrives, we go through it with you in a second video call: what it means for your visa, your job search and your next steps.

    What you get

    • Help with every question or request from the authority
    • A second video call to go through the decision
    • Your next steps for the visa or the job search

Questions people ask first

Straight answers.

What is the difference between a Statement of Comparability and professional recognition?

A Statement of Comparability from the ZAB describes how your university degree compares to a German one. It is what you usually need for the Chancenkarte, a Blue Card or a skilled worker visa in a profession that is not regulated. Regulated professions such as nursing, medicine or teaching need professional recognition from the authority responsible for that profession before you can work in it. We tell you which one applies to you.

How long does recognition take?

Preparing the application usually takes a few weeks, depending on how quickly your documents and translations come together. After that the authority decides on its own timeline, which can be several weeks to a few months. We give you an estimate for your case in the first call.

Is recognition guaranteed?

No. The authority decides. We make sure your application is complete and correct, and we tell you honestly in the first call if your chances look weak.

Is recognition included in the Chancenkarte packages?

Yes. Visa & Recognition and All-Inclusive include the degree check and, where needed, the full preparation of your recognition application.

Do you give legal advice?

No. We organise, prepare and check, and you apply in your own name. If your case needs a lawyer, we tell you and can refer you to a partner law firm.
